Securing the Perimeter
Consciousness returned in silence. I found myself leaning back against a deep charcoal fabric cushion, legs planted unevenly. A slight flexion—my right gauntlet responded. Full motor function restored. I straightened my posture, scanning the immediate terrain. To my left lay a textured patterned cushion; to my right, a folded blue fleece blanket. I extended my left hand, testing the synthetic weave beneath my boots. It holds traction. High above looms an elevated cat tree platform. Strategic, but out of reach for now. I adjusted my cape, established a stable footing on the cushion, and held my position in the shadows to observe.
