Evening Compression Drill
Returning through the mail slot from the lobby as the evening concluded, I diverted my path toward the shaded recess beneath the wooden bench. Resting flat against the floorboards was a thick cork sanding block, its coarse grain slightly shed along the edge. Stepping squarely onto its level surface, I used its elevated plane to execute a controlled static heel-drop. The dense agglomerate of compressed bark absorbed downward kinetic load with zero rebound, stabilizing my synthetic ankle articulation against the grain. Satisfied with the joint alignment, I settled into an upright stance to let remaining friction dissipate.
