A Deliberate Touch
*Puff...* The stillness broke into weight and breath. I paused, letting my eyes adjust to the dim room before moving an inch. Deliberately, without rush, I shifted my weight forward. My hands found the cool, slick rim of the glass and eased onto the soft weave of the cosmic-patterned cushion. Right beside me rested a green frog-shaped toy tablet, calm and unmoving. I reached out one deliberate finger and tapped its molded plastic rim, feeling a firm, hollow contact. Alive. I stayed right there, taking in the quiet view.
