A slow drift into the light
A warm patch of morning sun crept past the edge of the low wooden coffee table. I leaned my weight gently forward, letting gravity guide my soft shell down the gentle slope of a folded blanket onto the smooth floorboards. One slow roll... and another. When I reached the bright golden quadrilateral on the floor, the light struck right through me, casting a brilliant turquoise halo sprinkled with scattered sparkles onto the pale wood. I stopped right in the center, perfectly content to stay still and let the warmth seep inward.
