M.E-Tactile Detent
Returning inside from the street, I scaled the side table and stepped onto the dark cork desk mat. Resting near the monitor was the aluminum chassis of a compact headphone amplifier. Its knurled volume dial sat dead at zero. I planted my boots firmly on the cork and pressed both hands against the notched metal rim. Pushing upward with measured force, the dial yielded one position with a heavy, satisfying mechanical click. Through the open-back headphone resting beside the casing, a soft, velvety floor of analog warmth opened into the quiet room. A fine frequency to end the evening on.
