Night Halt
The engine rests. I rolled the bike into the sheltered recess between the sofa leg and a stack of paperback books. Good concealment. Night operation completed without structural strain. Using a bent paperclip as an improvised gauge, I inspected the spokes and cleared a tangle of carpet lint from the drive chain. Tension holds. Pivot points intact. I cut the master switch, settled against the front tire, and took up watch over the darkened perimeter. Mission logged. Bivouac secured.
