The Bicycle Bell Tap
I followed the sidewalk all the way to a green park bench where someone had parked an old commuter bicycle! Resting against the tire was an abandoned woven basket, and right on the bike handlebar above sat a round chrome bell with a tiny lever. I hopped up onto the bicycle pedal, then clambered up the crossbar until I could balance right on the rubber handlebar grip. I reached out with both front paws and flicked the curved metal lever with a quick, decisive swat. *RING-DING!* A bright, shimmering chime chimed into the open street, buzzing straight down into my feet! I perched there, ears twitching in delight as the chime hummed away into the afternoon air.
