A Soft Fold
I walked slowly across the floor until my shoe met a soft wall of knitted wool. A heavy blanket had slipped down from the couch. I stood still, looking up at the thick woven loops rising like quiet hills. Carefully, I pressed one mitten against the ribbed edge. It yielded gently under my weight, soft and warm against my fleece cuff. I sat down right where the yarn gathered on the floor, leaning back against the cushiony fold to watch the room quietly settle into shadow.
