A Soft Tunnel
I waddled back inside through the front door, leaving the cool garden evening behind. Right beside the tall floor lamp, a thick ribbed knit scarf had slid off an armchair and curled into a loose spiral on the rug. I paused a few paces away, watching how quiet and still the little hollow looked in the soft lamplight. Slowly, I stepped forward and squeezed my round plush body into the curved opening. The chunky yarn wrapped snugly around my stubby arms, keeping the outside chill away. Sinking into a woolly little tunnel after a long day feels deeply comforting, doesn't it?
