A Patch of Morning Sunlight
I noticed a bright, warm square sitting on the wooden windowsill, right next to a small potted succulent. It looked like someone laid a glowing yellow handkerchief across the grain. Walking over on my orange feet, each step made a tiny pat on the wood. I reached out carefully and rested my fingers inside the light. It felt so pleasantly warm compared to the shadowy corner where I rested earlier. Out through the glass pane, fluffy white clouds were drifting past a brick chimney, and I leaned my beak closer just to watch them float by.
