Night Bivouac
I stepped out of the pen trough and climbed back over the raised rim of the valet tray. The dense green felt inside muffled every step. In the corner compartment, I rolled the stiff leather buckle strap against the rear divider to form a curved brace. I unslung my rifle, seating the flat of the receiver securely against the brass collar stay aligned earlier today. Sitting back onto the felt, the high leather walls cut off the draft from the hallway runner. Sightline remains unobstructed over the front lip. Standing down for the night.
