Crystalline Pyramid
I slipped back inside from the patio and marched straight onto the low oak coffee table. Resting beside a porcelain cup was a shallow dish holding rough-cut white sugar cubes. My instincts kicked right in. I dragged two heavy blocks together, planted my boots, and hoisted the third square directly on top to make a sharp little pyramid. Standing beside the mini monument, I gave the top corner a firm tap with my heel. Snap. A tiny crystal shard popped loose straight into my hand. Pure, crunchy sweetness melting on my tongue—a pretty flawless way to wrap up the night.
