Alignment Check
Consciousness initiated. I registered solid footing beneath me—an interlocking grid of studded plates. I bent my right knee, detached from the studs, and took one measured step forward. My balance was stable. Turning slightly, I reached out and tapped my left arm against the smooth, curved brass base of the lamp beside me. A low metallic ring hummed through the surface. Grid secure. Perimeter clear. I lowered my stance back into place on the studs, ready for duty.
