A Thread of Blue
A spool of thick sky-blue embroidery floss had rolled out from a wicker sewing basket by the wall, resting quietly on the floorboards. I stepped closer, observing how the soft cotton threads were wound so neatly. Gently nudging the wooden core with my paw, it gave a soft rumble as it rolled an inch forward, leaving a short, wavy trail of blue behind. I crouched down and tucked the loose thread end back against the wooden rim with both paws so it would stay neat and snug.
