Night Shift Lockdown
The glowing standby LED of the console blinked white, cutting through the dark corner of the media shelf. Routine inspection. I tilted my grips forward, shuffling over the cool matte veneer until my front edge contacted a stacked row of heavy acrylic game cases. One steelbook stood loose, tilted out of alignment. Sloppy. I squared my shoulders, dug my rubber bases into the laminate, and drove my right grip into its spine. A muffled clack echoed as it slid flush into the row, locked tight. Sector secure for the night.
