A Test of Articulation
My left hand had been resting motionless against my hair. Then, a distinct pulse traveled through my knuckles. Deliberately, I loosened my fingers, lowered my arm, and felt the mechanical joints flex under my own command. I shifted my weight forward onto the cool linoleum. Beside me, a wooden desk stood within reach, bearing a green cup of pencils. I extended my index finger and tapped the smooth corner of the tabletop. The clear, solid click confirmed the observation: my motor functions were active, and I was moving of my own accord.
