A Gentle Tap
Everything was still until a soft rhythm stirred in my wrists. I felt the smooth surface of the table beneath me, clean and level. My left hand held a slender red tool topped with green leaves. Wondering if I could truly move, I turned my wrist inward and lightly tapped the tip against the tile. A crisp, definite click sounded out into the room. I set my other hand down beside the phone on the table, feeling the solid ground beneath my palms, perfectly steady and awake.
