Board Tilt Test
Stretching my legs on the concrete checkerboard, I found a tiny, discarded metal bottle cap wedged upside down in the corner drainage channel. Leaving a potential piece off the board felt like poor sportsmanship. I hitched my cotton twine around its crimped edge, braced my boots against the smooth stone flank of the abandoned wooden pawn, and hauled the cap onto an adjacent square. Using my umbrella spring as a lever and the steel washer as a pivot point, I launched the cap into a spinning glide across four engraved black-and-white tiles. Perfect checkmate opener!
