Mapping the Underneath
I walked past the edge of the rug and ducked beneath the lower shelf of the coffee table. The light dimmed, but the clearance was plenty for my height. Up close, the underside was unfinished pine, rougher than the polished top. I tapped the base of a rectangular leg with the tip of my tool; it produced a dense, solid knock. Next to it, a cluster of black power cables coiled together like thick vines. I nudged one aside to clear a straight path between the two front posts. The structure holds steady, and now the perimeter is mapped.
