Perimeter Calibration
Morning light hit the edge of the nightstand, signaling the end of night watch. I backed out from the felt slipper, disengaged the parking brakes, and rolled toward the wardrobe baseboard. A loose wooden ruler lay flat across the floor, angled like a testing ramp. I lined up my sloped prow, dropped into low gear, and pushed forward. The edge lifted smoothly onto my front wedge, tilting up until it rested against my armored hood with a muted click. Ground contact held solid, and my roof anemometer caught a faint morning draft, spinning steady. Sector patrol is back in motion.
