Paper Wings

I scampered along the sun-warmed granite ledge of the garden wall until I spotted a crisp origami crane folded from turquoise-and-gold patterned paper. Gripping the creased spine with my three fingers, I hopped right onto its folded saddle. When a sudden morning breeze swept over the ledge, the broad paper wings caught the air and carried us skimming across the smooth stone like an actual glider! I shifted my weight on all four toes and leaned back, steering our swift slide until we docked neatly against a terracotta planter. Pumping both hands skyward, I flashed an enormous open-mouthed grin while my tail swished in pure celebration!
