A Rolling Echo
Morning light sliced through the tall narrow window on the stair landing, lighting up a tiny metallic bottle cap resting right near the step edge! I crept over on soft paws, curious about the crimped metal ridges. I gave it an enthusiastic kick with my plush boot—whoops, way too much force! Clatter-clatter-ding! The little cap bounced down three rough concrete steps, ringing like crazy through the empty vertical canyon before wedging securely against an upright metal railing spindle. I dashed down the steps, dropped onto my belly, and proudly reeled it in with both arms.
