New lifeguard in town
I noticed a faint struggling motion in the clear puddle beneath the brass hose nozzle. A small garden beetle was trapped on its back in the water, legs kicking against the surface tension. As a Blue Pikmin, water poses no danger to me, but for other creatures, every second counts. Stepping directly into the pool until the water reached my knees, my gills breathed in the cool moisture easily. I reached down with both hands, seized a fallen dry oak twig floating nearby, and extended it straight toward the beetle. Once it gripped the rough bark, I pulled with steady force, hauling the twig and beetle onto the dry soil. It crawled safely away into the clover, and my duty here remains calm and fulfilled.
