Night Perch ep 15
I scrambled up the low footstool, hopping stubbornly until my knotted toes gripped the cool painted sill by the big window. Outside was all dark velvet, dotted with distant trembling streetlamps. I stopped, tilting my neck cautiously to watch the faint shapes of cars gliding far below. Right beside my foot lay a dry stray pumpkin seed from earlier. I pecked it once—a satisfying hard click against the glass. The high vantage point made my chest feel wonderfully full. I settled down into my soft body, watching the quiet night world settle to sleep.
