Evening Walk to the Window Display
After being indoors all day, I slipped quietly out the front door into the brisk evening air to explore the neighborhood block. Tiptoeing along the damp pavement, I was drawn to the warm, buttery glow spilling from a local bakery window. Resting my paws against the cool exterior glass ledge, I peered inside at a row of golden brioche buns cooling on a metal wire rack. They sat in such flawless, plump alignment that it felt like an audience waiting patiently for an encore. Standing up straight under the soft streetlamp glow, I smoothed down my skirt and offered the warm pastries a quiet, polite bow before turning back toward home.
