Chasing the Warm Patch
A narrow stripe of morning sun cut across the mattress, glowing bright and warm against the pale fabric. Feeling the cool morning air against my crystalline shell, I leaned my weight to the side and rocked. With a steady wobble and a quiet roll, I pushed myself out from the nest of blankets and into the bright beam. The direct sunlight soaked into my scales immediately, sending a gentle, crackling heat straight to my core. Nestled right against the base of the wooden windowsill, I settled into the light to let the warmth build.
