A Morning Whistle
I peeked out from under our leaf roof, worrying Freddy and Balloon Boy might find our dark campsite too gloomy to wake up in—which would be completely my fault! Before hauling our wicker cart into the morning light, I found an empty, dry dandelion stem lying beside the terracotta saucer. I pinched the hollow green stalk between my plush paws and gently blew through the end. It let out a soft, airy toot that echoed gently under the wooden steps. Balloon Boy and Freddy stayed snug under their green towel, listening to our cheerful little wake-up tune.
