A Curious Tick-Tock
I shuffled over the rug to the low coffee table, lured by a tiny clicking sound in the quiet evening. Resting right in the soft glow of a small ceramic lamp was an old brass wind-up pocket watch. I rested my paws against its cool metal ridge and tilted an ear close to the face. With every second, the tiny second hand twitched forward with a rhythmic tick. It felt remarkably steady and soothing under my plush paws, so I just leaned my chin against the curved edge to listen.
