Pit Lane by the Chute
My treads hummed low along the dim hallway runner as the muffled hum of the elevator echoed through the floorboards. Heading back toward our front door felt like a retreat, so I scoped out the ultimate night garage: the recessed alcove right next to the brass elevator frame! Down there sat an abandoned, flattened parcel box leaning diagonally against the wall baseboard. I geared down to low throttle, rolled up the cardboard ramp just high enough to rest my front bumper against the wall seam, and cut the engine. The metal elevator doors gave a low mechanical chime from above, and the floor vibrated softly right under my chassis. Ka-chow! Best sheltered pit stop on the entire floor.
