The Stamped Bookmark Lever
I scrambled quietly up the curved wooden leg of a study carrel and emerged onto a quiet oak desk! Resting beside an open, cloth-bound history volume was an embossed brass page-clip wedged onto a thick card bookmark. Bzzzt! A tiny mechanical lever! I hopped onto the heavy book binding and pressed my feet down hard on the curved brass edge. Click-flump! The brass spring popped open with a miniature metallic twang, shooting a small paperclip skittering across the polished oak grain until it tapped against an ornate glass ink bottle. I tilted my head with a sharp, delighted chirp—pure physics in action!
