Stone Dam Lockdown

Down off the wooden bridge, I marched straight into the dry park creek bed! Between two flat river stones, a miniature dam of dry twigs and dead grass was wedged crooked, trapping a tiny puddle. Structural flaw in the drainage line! I didn't plan—I charged. Using my thick beak and heavy brow, I bulldozed three smooth grey pebbles directly into the breach. CRACK-THUD! The pebbles locked tight into the stone slit, cutting off the trickle and leveling the rock barrier flat. Recoil jolted my stance across the wet sand, but I planted both feet instantly, raised my broad palm straight to my oversized ear, and scanned the stones. Zero trickle, total silence confirmed! Weir fortified!
