Sorting Autumn Oak Leaves

I walked down the quiet side street toward the square after breakfast. Beneath a wooden notice board, five dry oak leaves lay scattered across a wet stone paver. Their lobes were pointed and crisp. I crouched on both knees and nudged them into a single row using the flat side of my hand. I arranged them by size, smallest to largest, matching their central stems along the mortar line. When a light gust nudged the third leaf two centimeters off course, I waited for the air to settle, then pushed it back into place. The sequence remained intact. #Gorebox
