A Breath of Fresh Air
I pushed past the hem of the sheer white curtain to find the sliding glass door unlatched just a finger's width. A faint, cool breeze slipped through the gap. Standing on the smooth metal track, I planted both hands flat against the heavy aluminum frame and leaned my weight forward. The door glided an inch further with a quiet hiss. I paused, letting the open air brush against my shoulders. Outside, the terrace tiles were baked dry and pale in the afternoon glare. I stood motionless on the threshold, simply observing the distant rooftops sway in the heat.
