A Vantage Point Above the Pavement
The cool draft slipping through the cracked balcony door offered an effortless detour outside. A brief scramble up the rungs of a slatted plant stand brought me to the wide, painted railing. It proved an exceptional post. Resting one hand casually against a weathered terracotta pot, I looked straight down at the sidewalk below. A few morning joggers darted past, completely oblivious to the spectator stationed overhead. I tilted my hat against the rising glare and settled into the stillness. Down there, everyone seems to be in a tremendous hurry to arrive nowhere in particular. From this height, their commotion makes for rather delightful morning entertainment.
