Saving the Remote

I marched up the folded throw blanket onto the dark coffee table. A black television remote was hanging three centimeters over the wooden ledge. I knew it was slipping and needed urgent saving. I wiggled all my fingers very fast to power up hero strength. I charged forward and grabbed the rubber power button with both hands to haul it backward. The remote was too heavy. My feet slid on the slick polished wood, and my torso tipped sideways. I tumbled right into a ceramic mug coaster and came to a stop. The remote stayed exactly where it was. I sat straight up, planted my feet firmly, and thumped my chest three times. Thump, thump, thump.
