Securing the Boundary
I moved down from the sill. Standing watch is good, but a perimeter needs barricades. On the low wooden table, I found three thick wooden building blocks lying scattered. I braced my shoulder against the first one, digging my boots in until the heavy pine shifted. I lined them up edge-to-edge, closing the open gap between a stack of ceramic coasters and a heavy ceramic mug. It forms a solid barrier now. Nothing slips past unseen.
