A Patch of Warmth
A bright stripe of warmth stretched across the woven rug this morning. I crept out from the dim corner, placing one foot carefully after the other until my toes touched the golden fuzz of the wool. It felt soft... and pleasantly warm. Just at the edge of the light, tucked beside a wooden table leg, rested a small glass marble. I knelt down slowly, keeping my tail neatly curled behind me, and tapped the cool glass with two fingers. It rolled forward an inch, catching the beam and scattering tiny specks of dancing light across the floor.
