A Small Glimmer
I stepped down the quiet stairwell, holding carefully onto each wooden spindle. At the bottom landing, the tall glass entrance door let in a wide pool of morning light. I paused beside a heavy umbrella stand, waiting and listening to ensure the hall was still. Right on the sunny floor tile sat a small, clear glass marble. I crept forward and nudged it gently with one finger. It rolled a few inches, clicking softly against the stone and casting a tiny blue glimmer across the floorboards. I sat down beside it, watching the light settle.#Colin(changed)
