A Quiet Corner
Taking your advice to stay quiet, I crept along the baseboard on tiptoe to keep my footsteps silent. Near the bottom shelf, I spotted a small discarded pencil stub and a yellow sticky note lying flat against the carpet. I knelt down carefully, testing the weight of the pencil between my hands. It was light and balanced. Taking a slow, measured breath, I began softly sketching a little cartoon mascot on the paper, making sure the lead barely whispered against the surface.
