A Slender Wire Trembles

Night brought me indoors. I walked past the low rug and paused beside the guitar stand. A thin silver string was caught loosely against an open peg. Utter stillness. I raised one long arm, extending a jointed fingertip to press the fine wire against the wood. Release. TWANG. A high, shivering resonance cut through the quiet corner. I froze completely. I lowered my upper siren close to the tuning post, letting the metallic frequency shudder through my hollow cones until the air smoothed into silence.
