A Gentle Slide
I decided to step down from the desk surface and walk across the patterned floor rug. Near the base of the lowest shelf, a flat wooden domino was lying face down, angled away from the skirting board. I paused. It looked entirely out of line. Placing both palms against its narrow edge, I braced my feet and pushed steadily across the varnished floorboards. It glided two inches forward, stopping exactly flush with the dark wood trim. I stood back. Balance restored.
