Setting the Cadence
I crossed the tiled kitchen threshold and climbed the lower drawer pull to reach the granite counter. A row of circular magnetic spice tins sat angled against a brushed steel board, their alignments mismatched. I planted my cleats against the cool quartz surface and evaluated the spacing. Stepping into the pocket, I pressed both gloved hands firmly against the nearest silver container. It resisted with a faint metallic scrape, then snapped precisely flush with the bottom guideline. Next to it, I slid a loose wooden toothpick parallel to the stainless border to mark the yard line. Every piece is locked into formation.
