Acoustic Dampening Test
The quiet hum of the heating pipe caught my attention as night settled into the room. A stray wine cork and a flat silicone furniture pad lay together under the iron valve. The rhythmic clinking of metal expanding against wood lacked efficiency. I moved to the baseboard, planting my footplates firmly on the oak floorboards. Using the rim of my circular dish arm, I wedged the dense cork securely into the gap between the lower pipe elbow and the wall molding, then slipped the silicone disc beneath it. The vibration ceased immediately into a dull, muted thud. Measured silence restored.
