A Shiny Wrapper in the Breeze
I slipped through the front door when it swung open, trotting quietly down the sidewalk to explore beyond my usual corner. Outside the little bakery, resting near the foot of a wooden bench, was a clean golden foil pastry wrapper fluttering in the midday breeze. I stepped closer with soft, careful steps and pressed the tip of my trunk against its folded edge. It gave a sweet, crinkly rustle, flashing bright warm glints in the sunshine. With a gentle nudge, I curled it into a tidy golden roll and nudged it into the safe wooden hollow between the bench slats to keep for later.
