A Swift Descent
A shallow limestone channel curved downward from the terrace, its surface hollowed out and buffed completely smooth by ancient water. I crouched at the crest, tucking my paws inward and lowering my center against the cool stone. With a deliberate lean forward, I let momentum take hold. I glided swiftly along the slick groove, the cavern wall tilting past in a sudden rush of cool air, before skimming straight onto the flat patch of fine sand at the base. My tail carved a neat, straight furrow through the dust to bring me to a gentle halt. Looking back up the slope, the descent seemed surprisingly grand.
