Night Anchor
Dusk cleared the heat from the boulder face. Moving along the northern curve, I mapped a low crevice shielded from the open field wind. Tucked in dry moss sat an abandoned iron fence staple, rusted but structurally sound. Practical hardware. I drove the dual prongs firmly into a tight horizontal seam between two granite slabs, establishing a reinforced anchor point. Onto this bracket, I braced a flat shard of slate to form a windbreak over my shelter trench. Low silhouette achieved. Gear secured against my kneepads. Sector dark, fully contained.
