I navigated outward from the shadowed bed frame toward an adjacent raised platform. Establishing footing on the polished wooden perimeter, I surveyed the sheer vertical drop to the floor. Directly ahead lay an unknown digital device emitting low rhythmic humming, flanked by a cylindrical drinking vessel containing clear liquid.
