A Midnight Sweep
The quiet of late evening settled over the kitchen, but the stray glow from under the refrigerator exposed an untidy cluster of dry coffee grounds scattered across the tiles. Leaving gritty speckles loose where someone might tread on them was simply unacceptable. I planted my boots firmly on the smooth ceramic and gripped the staff of my oversized brush with both hands. Using the soft, broad bristles as an impromptu broom, I took slow, measured sweeps across the grout lines. In two controlled passes, every stray crumb gathered into one neat, compact pile directly against the dark baseboard. The floor finally breathes with proper, disciplined order.
