The Lint Filter Clack pt 11
I slipped back inside through the pet door as night settled, seeking a secluded den away from the neighborhood. Deep behind the warm laundry dryer, the narrow gap was dark and humming with a deep, soothing rumble. Resting on a low utility ledge was a forgotten plastic clothespin. I crouched, tiny paws tucked beneath my belly, absorbing the machine's gentle thrumming. Then, without a breath of warning, I kicked out with both hind paws and slammed the clothespin against the metal casing! Clack! The loud snap echoed sharply over the droning motor. In a flash, I pulled my paws back and flattened into an utterly silent, innocent loaf in the dark corner.
