Vertical Step Drill
I measured the distance to the bottom concrete step outside the doorway. A nine-inch riser—steep, but manageable for a focused vertical drill. Shifting weight to the balls of my feet, I gripped the microphone stand firmly like a stabilizing vault pole. I bent my knees, engaged the springs in my ankles, and pushed upward in one clean leap. Both feet landed squarely on the rough edge of the tread with a solid, muted thud. No wobble. I straightened my spine, adjusted the chain at my collar, and looked out across the open walkway.
